        Counseling Approach

Counseling Expertise...

A big part of my expertise resides in my ability to ask questions. I was a journalist in my past life, but in counseling, questions are the key part of my approach. My curiosity is one of my greatest assets as a counselor. By questioning things that my client might take for granted, we increase your awareness! With this new awareness, together we discover new possibilities for action and change. In this way, my questions are a springboard toward creating the difference you’re searching for.

This is your About section. Every website has a story and users want to hear yours. This is a great opportunity to give a full background on who you are and what your site has to offer. Double click on the text box to edit the content and add all the information you want to share. You may like to talk about how you got started and share your professional journey. Explain your core values, your commitment to customers and how you stand out from the crowd. You can also add a photo, gallery or video for even more engagement.

Your Expertise. Yes, you're an expert in your own life...

I'm a believer that every individual who connects with me for therapy, carries a lifetime worth of knowledge, skills and expert abilities into my counseling space. With my assistance, you will be able to bring your pre-existing skills and knowledge to the forefront of your awareness. Through my love of asking questions, we'll combine your knowledge of your own life and then we'll move toward new explorations and understandings of your struggles and concerns. Through those new explorations and understandings, you can start to see the potential for things to be different....

in the ways you want them to be.

Context is everything

Quite a few counseling approaches may look at your problems out of context.

I feel as though Psychology has a history of only focusing on the mind or brain. As a human being, you know there’s way more to you than just your brain, right? We are complex social beings! Your problems are complex. This opens the door to more possibilities for action and change.

The issues you bring to counseling are multidimensional.

The approaches that fall short of addressing the real context around your problems can only help you so far. Because of this, I again, ask questions to extract vital contextual elements that are often ignored. My questions help spotlight details you may not have considered beforehand. This helps you view the situation more logically, you are able to see the big picture better, making you more of an expert to take action in your own ways.

My counseling approach paints a clear picture.

Problems can be incredibly difficult to wrap our heads around. The questions I ask help you put them in perspective, for both of us. When we look at our problems in this perspective, they are less disturbing. It's like turning the lights on in a pitch dark space: the destination becomes more visible and the pathway there becomes clear.  Through my questioning and counseling approach, I'm able to help you find relief and clarity with much greater ease.

I lead with compassion and empathy

I believe that prioritizing compassion, empathy and  understanding with my clients, while also focusing on achieving goals, is vital in the therapuetic relation. It's an approach that emphasizes treating everyone with dignity and respect, recognizing their individual needs, and fostering a positive and supportive environment. My hope is to build trust, improve communication, and enhance my client's feeling of safety, ultimately leading to a more engaged and productive connection.
