EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is type of therapy

that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic memories

by using bilateral stimulation while focusing on distressing thoughts and feelings.

Trauma

Reprocessing

Goal

Trauma can leave a lasting imprint on the brain, causing certain memories and thoughts to feel highly vivid and distressing, almost as if they are occurring in the present moment. EMDR helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity and allowing for a healthier, more logical perspective.

This Therapy aids the brain in reprocessing traumatic memories, decreasing their emotional impact and facilitating a more balanced and rational view. While I help my client focus on a specific memory, our client will be doing the bilateral stimulation. This process helps the brain connect the different parts of the memory, allowing it to be processed more naturally and with less intensity.

The goal is to help you feel less distressed by the memory, reduce flashbacks, and develop a more neutral, logical and adaptive understanding of the past event. EMDR is a structured therapy that involves multiple sessions. It's not a magic cure, but a process of gradually shifting your perspective on difficult memories. The hope is that you will find clarity, feel confident, and thrive!

If you would like to understand more about EMDR in a therapeutic setting,

please reach out and I'll discuss with you how this modality could help you

feel more confident, clear, connected and calm. 704-589-0369
